I know that I wrote I was going to post a beauty post soon in my recent weekly update, but since holiday posts are more relevant right now, I’m going to focus on a little winter/Christmas/holiday series and publish the beauty post later.
But before we get into this post: are you following my blog on Bloglovin’ already? If not, I’d be more than happy if you did that here.
Okay, now onto the post.
When it comes to presents, I’m either that type of person who has the best ideas and gets too excited to finally hand them over or I’m that type who has no idea at all, there is no in between. It always depends on the person the present is for, though.
This is when I start looking for ideas online, this time it was no different. Well, a little bit, because one rainy morning in November I decided to collect ideas myself and create my own Gift Guide while searching for the perfect gift so that not only I get inspired but can also pass on some inspiration.
This post is not only a gift guide but I’m also throwing in some gifts I’d love to receive because every time I don’t know what to get someone I always think “what would I love to get?”. Maybe my wishlist has something on it that makes you think “oh my sister/cousin/mom/friend would love that too”.
№ 1: Watches
If there’s one thing I need, it’s a nice watch. The one I bought most recently was purchased in 2012 so you can only imagine how obsessed I am with it by now…. But it’s great for work because I’d never wear an expensive watch in retail because I hit so many shelves with it while folding and rearranging clothes so it’s nice to have for there but ya girl needs a nice watch for everyday wear.
The one I currently have my eyes on is by Daniel Wellington.
№ 2: a Spa Day
I feel like this is the perfect gift for anyone you want to have a good time with. I’ve been thinking about treating myself for a massage for years now but I never got around actually doing it. Maybe next year….
№ 3: Books
Books are an overall great present because there are so many different kinds of books. My favorites are inspirational books and my current favorite is “It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want to Be”.
Especially with the New Year in mind, I think that inspirational and motivational books make a great gift to start 2018 off right.
There are so many amazing books out there, you can always find the right one for anyone.
№ 4: Jewelry
There is nothing about jewelry that doesn’t make a great present (if you know the person’s taste). It’s personal, it’s cute and it’s useful.
№ 5: Anything Fuzzy
Who doesn’t love fuzzy socks, pillows, blankets,… the list goes on and on and on.
And even though Christmas is in mid to late December, there’s still enough time to embrace the awesomeness of fuzz after the holidays.
№ 6: a Beauty/Skincare Holiday Set
They’re literally everywhere, but they make a great present because our skin needs special protection and care during the colder months.
№ 7: a Trip
This is by far the most expensive one, no question, but also by far the best one. Whether it’s exploring an unknown place or a place you’ve already been to several times and have a special connection with. It’s always nice to gift time together.
№ 8: a Visit to an Amusement Park
It doesn’t always have to be a 5-day trip. A one (or two, if you want to stay the night) day trip to an amusement park is always a good idea.
№ 9: Accomplishment of a New Year’s Resolution
For example, my gym offers a discount for a two-month membership to try it out. This is a perfect gift for someone who wants to be healthier but doesn’t find the motivation to sign up for a gym. Of course, this idea doesn’t only apply to the gym. It can be anything. Planners are also great for someone who wants to be more organized in the new year. Especially as we get older, it’s always good to have a planner. What I love about planners is that there are so many websites that offer you to customize them to your liking and make them as personal as you want (e.g. add photos, customize the colors,…).
№ 10: an Advent Calendar
I have to admit, it’s kind of late for that but maybe you already want some inspiration for Christmas 2018….
I love this idea because no matter how old you are, deep down inside everyone wants an advent calendar. My mom usually makes one for me but last year she made one for my grandma and she was so happy about it that I didn’t mind settling for a lottery ticket advent calendar.
Even though I didn’t win the jackpot, I still had so much fun scratching the cards and she actually got me another one for this year.
This is obviously nothing you can gift on Christmas Eve but I still love this idea (and who says you can’t present your loved ones earlier?) because it is one of the most personalizable gifts out there, from its look to the content. If you want to gift this to someone but don’t know what to put in it – because finding 24 different surprises can be hard – I’m listing my favorite ones below:
candy in general
self-made gift cards for activities like watching the sunset together, breakfast in bed,…
a bath bomb
christmassy food like gingerbread, cinnamon stars, candied almonds,…
a stuffed animal
a handwritten note/quote/etc.
